Gold Coast, Queesland
Gold Coast, Currumbin Beach |
If you are looking for a great holiday destination in Australia why not make a stop at the GOLD COAST in Queensland. For international travellers I would recommend flying to Melbourne or Sydney Aiports and from there making your way to Coolangatta Airport on the Gold Coast. For local travellers you can fly to Coolangatta Airport of Drive.
The Gold Coast has some great food and nightlife but having spent every summer of my childhood there, I also have experiences all that it has to offer for families. My favourites were going to the beach, swimming, Pacific Fair, Currumbin Santuary, Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movie World and White Water World.
HOT TIP: You don't need to book tours from overseas. Just worry about your plane flights and accomodation. There are hundreds of information desks throughout the Gold Coast where you can get information on the best things to see and how to get there.
Suggested Itinery for those that like walking - Hop on the beach at Surfers Paradise and walk down along the beach to Burleigh Heads. This will take about two hours but you can stop off for a swim along the way whenever you want as there a lots of flagged areas. Continue walking right to the very end of Burleigh Head, you will come accross Burleight Heads National Park. Continue through the park around the heads until you reach Tellabudgera creek. Take another swim or just relax. Head towards the Bridge to the Hwy where you can catch a BUS back to Surface Paradise. For a shorter walk start at Broadbeach or Burleigh Heads. Length 1 Day - Free Activity
Suggested Itinery for those who like rainforests - Drive or join a tour to visit O'Reilly's Lamington National Park to see wildlife and birdlife. They have heaps of Rosellas there and you can hand feed them, a must for anyone.
Theme Park Hint - Theme Park passes can be purchases individually or together
Shows - Take a walk down Surface Paradise Mall, you will come accross stands where they sell discounted last minute show tickets.
Accomodation - There are so many options for staying at the Goldcoast but these are suggested placed that a very child friendly; Treasure Island, Mermaid Turtle Beach, Paradise Resort or choose your own at Stayz
You can hire a car on the Gold Coast for Collangatta Aiport but in all honesty you don't really need a car. If you don't take a car use the local BUS network which will even take you out to the airport.
