Cooking With Kids at Home

Follow these basic steps for hassle free cooking with toddlers;

  1. Be prepared - make sure you have the recipe and all ingredients in front of you. Kids this age lose interest very quickly.
  2. Be flexible - don't stress too much about technique. Making them feel as if they are doing a great job and then doing a quick stir while there not paying attention is a recipe for toddler success!
  3. Don't worry - kids love making a mess and are great at it. Ingredients can end up on the floor, in their hair and most probably in their mouth.
  4. Be safe - wash their hands with a wash cloth after they have broken the egg. Raw egg can sometimes make little ones sick.
  5. Encourage - try and get kids to help you with the cleaning up while the food cooks. Good in theory, my son is YET to do this!
