Steps to take if your child gets stung by a BEE

This photo was taken today in the backyard of our new home. It has prompted me blog about bee safety and what steps we should take to treat our chidren if they are stung. There are two main issues discussed; What steps to take if your child is stung by a bee & what step to take if your child has an allergic reation (anaphylaxis) to a sting.

Step for Bee Stings - No Allergic reaction

  1. Try and calm you child and reassure them that they will be ok.
  2. Remove the sting with you fingernail in a flicking motion - Don't Squeeze it out
  3. Wash area and wrap in cold cloth or ice
  4. If swelling develops and persist take them to the doctor
Step for Bee Stings - Allergic Reactions

If you know your child has an allergy to bees make sure they wear a medical bracelet at all times and carry the medication the Doctor has given you

  1. Remove Sting Immediately
  2. If child is bitten and you know they have an allergy, treat them with medication immediately
  3. Call for an Ambulance
  4. Stay calm and stay with the child at all times
  5. Place pressure over the bite site
